-------------SALVAGE SECURITY REQUIRED-------------

1 October 2024

* Further to our initial report concerning the engine failure of containership, ONE HAMMERSMITH (IMO: 9395147), we are advised that shipowners entered an L.O.F salvage agreement with professional salvors who provided assistance.

* Consequently, salvage security will be required to be provided by a party acceptable to the salvors or the Council of Lloyd's on behalf of cargo interests and W K Webster may be able to assist. Security provided by WKW is acceptable to the Council of Lloyd's and widely preferred by professional salvors.

* We understand that the shipowners have now arranged towage of the vessel on commercial terms to the next intended port of call, Rotterdam, with an ETA at that port over the forthcoming weekend, it being the Salvors intention/entitlement to hold the property pending provision of relevant securities.

* It is not currently clear if shipowners intend to declare General Average. If General Average is declared, General Average security will also be required from all cargo interests prior to the delivery of their cargo, and we are likely to be able to assist in that regard.

* Investigations to ascertain the cause of the incident will be important, hence we are exploring the possibility of appointing a Court Surveyor in addition to having an Engineer attend too.

* We recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.

-------------ORIGINAL-------------

* We have received reports that containership, ONE HAMMERSMITH (IMO: 9395147) experienced an engine failure in a position approximately 27 nautical miles northwest of Ushant Island, France.

* It is reported that the vessel was later taken under tow by tug to Douarnenez Bay, France, for inspection and repairs.

* It is possible that General Average, Salvage and associated recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo stowed on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
