SIDRA

* We have received reports that asphalt tanker, SIDRA experienced an explosion and a fire in the engine room whilst in a position south of Silivri, Turkey, on 10 January 2024.

* It is reported that the fire could not be extinguished by the crew. Consequently, various tugs and Turkish Coast Guard vessels were deployed to assist the vessel.

* It appears that the vessel may later have been taken under tow to Tuzla Anchorage, Turkey for inspection.

* It is likely that General Average/Salvage and associated Recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
